Family Law
Should you retain a lawyer to help you with a family law matter?
In most instances the answer is yes; especially if court action is involved. In a divorce, our lawyers help clients understand their rights, which can be complex when custody, visitation, support and alimony is involved. Our lawyers will help clients discover what assets are available to be divided, and advise our clients as to what is a fair property division. For instance, most people do not understand how pensions can be divided without any current tax consequences.
After a divorce becomes final, alimony, custody, visitation and support can be modified depending the circumstances. Property division is rarely subject to modification. Our lawyers will analyze each situation, and recommend if the situation warrants petitioning the court for a modification of the divorce decree. Our lawyers will file the appropriate documents with the court, and represent the client during all stages of the case, including gathering evidence and presenting it to the court.
Our lawyers help our clients with other family law matters, such as adoptions, and guardianship of minors and adults.
